The Dept. of Education is… One Step Closer to Shuttering

Back in March, we, Conversion Media Group wrote you a piece titled, “What does the Education Department layoffs mean for higher Ed?”

In it, we said, “For the past two or so months now, DOGE (or the department of government efficiency) has been trimming some fat from the federal government.

“It’s been Elon Musk’s goal to reduce waste by as much as $1 trillion. Now, while some DOGE cuts are probably warranted, others may not be. Time will tell.

“But regardless of the effectiveness/necessity of widespread DOGE cuts, the U.S. Department of Education, headed by new secretary, Linda McMahon is doing something far more radical.

“She has already announced the department will cut its workforce by half, reducing it from 4,133 employees to 2,183…

“With longer term plans to completely shut it down – moving decision making in education from the feds to the states.”

Within that same piece we also offered some advice on what institutions of higher education should be doing, regardless of what happens or doesn’t happen in the government (which we’ll cover again in a few moments).

Now, since the time we wrote that piece a lot has changed. Elon Musk is no longer associated with the Federal Govt… $1 trillion in waste and fraud has (likely) not been found… and the Education Department is still alive and kicking.

At least it is for now.

You see, in June it was revealed that ED Secretary Linda McMahon intended to eventually hand over certain career and technical education programs to Labor.

It just happened.

This month, the Trump administration announced the creation of a “state plan portal” which allows the Department of Labor to administer adult education programs jointly with the Dept. of ED.[1]

Additionally, funding for these programs, which has traditionally been managed by the Dept. of Ed, is now going to be managed by Labor.

In a press release on the new arrangement, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer said, “To prepare our next generation of American workers, the Trump Administration is taking decisive action to streamline unnecessary bureaucracy and advance the skills needed to fill jobs of the future.”[2]

What does this all mean?

Well, simply put, the Department of Education is getting closer to becoming irrelevant, whether we like it or not.

But…

No matter what happens with the Dept. your school must continue to attract new students. Because new students are the lifeblood of your institution.

Now, we mentioned earlier how we gave some advice in our March 13 piece regarding the potential shutdown of the Department of Education, especially in regard to student loans.

Today, we’ll go a little further.

Since new enrollees are the lifeblood of your institution, it’s of utmost importance that you continually attract new students. It’s essential, in fact.

And that’s what we, Conversion Media Group can offer you… more students.

You see, higher education enrollment initiatives are what we do. It’s all we do.

We’re known nationwide as an EDU lead-generation firm that not only delivers, but often over delivers. Because of our digital marketing reach, and the fact that we own and operate US-based contact centers, we have the ability to hand deliver, yes hand deliver, to your enrollment department a large amount of high intent leads.

Now, by hand deliver, here’s what we mean.

We just mentioned our contact centers. Our contact centers are staffed with professional EDU agents. Agents who physically speak with the leads we’ve created through our digital marketing efforts.

Once a lead shows genuine intent on enrolling in higher ed, we can transfer that lead directly to your enrollment department while we have them on the phone.

This is called a live transfer lead, and this is where CMG really shines. See, we only transfer calls to you when the lead is really, really interested in enrolling…

And we don’t transfer obvious tire kickers.

So, regardless of what happens with the Dept. of Education, CMG is here to help boost your enrollments.

Just give us a quick call at 1-800-419-3201 and we’ll go over the details.
