“It’s about time for people to start realizing that you can make more money, have a better career path, have a happier life, have a better family in the long term, by doing stuff with your hands.” – 25 year old Victoria Carl, auto mechanic, certified diesel tech.[1]
Victoria Carl is not alone. The trades, once a career path pursued mostly by young men, is now being strongly embraced by young women. In fact, there are already millions of women working in the trades.
6% of carpenters are women, 12.1% of America’s commercial truck drivers are women, and as much as 9% of HVAC techs are women.[2][3][4]
And those numbers seem to only be growing.
You see, back in 2021, excluding nursing, the United States Department of Labor placed the women’s participation rate in skilled trades at 310,000.[5]
By 2022, over 1.3 million women worked in the construction industry alone… amounting to roughly 11% of its workforce.
However, the US Dept. of Commerce just said (this year), that “about 1 in 7 jobs have gone to women… (putting) the share of women in construction at just over 14 percent.”[6]
It’s become crystal clear. While many trade schools continue to target young men, more and more young women are wanting to get into the trades as well…
Because, as Ms. Victoria Carl said, “you can make more money, have a better career path… by doing stuff with your hands.”
Today, Conversion Media Group will highlight the trade programs that some of the young women we’ve spoken with are interested in, and we’ll show you how you can enroll more of them in your school.
With that said, let’s begin with the trades that have traditionally been sought by women; but are trades they still show great interest in today: Dental hygienists, hair stylists, makeup artists, massage therapists, and nursing.
And now, the trades that have traditionally been sought by men, but are now in demand by women too: Construction management, service technicians, landscapers, electricians, carpenters, CDL truck drivers and HVAC technicians.
“Personally, I do think that trade school is wiser for some people. No matter what happens as times change, you’re always going to need the trades.” – Emiley Filuta[7]
Now, how can you best market your trade or career-based school to young women?
Speak directly with them… by partnering with Conversion Media Group!
We are a nationwide leader in trade school enrollment initiatives, and we speak with hundreds, sometimes thousands of women who are interested in the trades…
And we speak with them directly on the phone!
You see, when we’re on the phone with them, and they show genuine interest in your school and its programs, we can transfer these calls directly to your enrollment department, live. This is called a live transfer lead.
And no matter if you’re a brick-and-mortar only school, you offer fully online programs or hybrid, we have the ability to deliver leads.
With our live transfer leads, your enrollment team will be speaking directly with prospective students who are already interested in your programs, have learned about your school and are sometimes ready to enroll during that first call.
So…
The time to enroll more women in the trades is right now!
Give us a call at 1-800-419-3201, (or click HERE) and we’ll explain how our live transfers work, how we curate our various EDU leads, and how many new student leads we can hand off to you.
Here’s to your, and your new students’ success!
