No matter what kind of institution of higher education you operate, chances are you need more students. And, as you well know, tuition may likely be your primary (if not only) source of revenue. More students mean more revenue.
Clearly, the single best way to keep your revenue stream growing is by not only filling your empty seats, but by creating enough demand for those seats that you may need to add more of them.
Today, Conversion Media Group, a national leader in higher ed enrollment initiatives, will show you a few digital marketing tips (and one really good tip) your institution should employ to help you fill those seats…
And hopefully create enough demand so that you can expand.
So, let’s get to it!
Tip #8 – Paid ads. You absolutely must be sure all your PPC ads, including Google ads, Bing, Meta, etc., are written to a highly specific audience, with highly specific copy and highly specific keywords. You’ll want to target long-tail keywords, and you must geotarget your ads if you don’t offer online courses.
There’s a lot of competition in the PPC space, so having an expert behind the wheel with your PPC is a must.
Tip #7 – Be specific with retargeting. With your retargeting, be sure your ads or content are segmented and tailored to the exact course or major the prospective student was initially interested in.
It’s a no-brainer, but don’t retarget a website visitor to your online education program with ads for an on-campus program.
Tip #6 – Value add is more important than ever. All of your “free” content must offer value to the viewer or reader. By offering free, valuable information, prospective students will gain trust in your institution.
Value builds trust, trust builds loyalty… and trust converts prospects into students.
Tip #5 – All of your content must be awesome. Everyone knows that content is king, so you must create engaging, fun, and relevant content for your prospects to consume. Create, post, and distribute your contentment at least once a week.
However, if your team can post great content daily, do it. Just remember, it absolutely must offer some kind of value.
Tip #4 – If you don’t have a podcast yet, start one. Podcasts give you a fantastic opportunity to not only highlight your schools’ programs, but they offer a great opportunity for testimony.
See, your former students may be your best sales reps. Consider having them talk about life after school and have them tell their success stories on your podcast. But remember, just like all content, your podcast must offer value.
Tip #3 –SEO for voice. Be sure you optimize all your content for voice search. Right now, 55% of smartphone users use voice search rather than typing into a search engine. However, while 55% is a lot, this number is growing.[1]
Be sure your marketing team knows how to properly optimize all content for voice search, this is a must as it’s the future.
Tip #2 – Dig into your data. Your data can tell you a whole lot about your campaign successes and failures. But you may have deep data that gives you insights about your prospective students that aren’t easily seen with the naked eye.
If you don’t already have an Edu marketing data analyst, you should consider either hiring one, or having one come aboard as a consultant. They’re worth their weight in gold.
